The All India Registered Nursing Federation (AIRNF) today submitted a representation to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, seeking immediate attention to the long-standing issues faced by nursing staff in the union territory.
The representation highlights the discriminatory pay scales and lack of uniform allowances and risk allowances for nursing staff in Jammu and Kashmir, compared to their counterparts in other union territories.
"We urge the Lieutenant Governor to intervene and address the systemic discrimination faced by nursing staff in Jammu and Kashmir," said General Secretary, AIRNF. "It is essential that we adopt a 'One Nation, One Pay' rule to ensure fairness and equality in pay scales across all union territories."
The AIRNF also demanded the updation of nomenclature from "staff nurses" to "nursing officers" to reflect their professional status and dignity.
Furthermore, the representation also brought to light the discrimination faced by the newly established Government Medical Colleges (GMCs) in Jammu and Kashmir, which lack proper rules and regulations, resulting in uncertainty and insecurity among the staff.
"We request the Health and Medical Education Department to frame proper rules and regulations for the newly established GMCs, to ensure that the staff are treated fairly and with dignity,"
The AIRNF hopes that Lieutenant Governor jk will take immediate action to address these critical issues and ensure that nursing staff in Jammu and Kashmir receive the fairness and justice they deserve.
Thanking you in anticipation.
