: NGEL signs JV Agreement with MAHAGENCO for RE Parks in Maharashtra

New Delhi, News Udaan 28th February 2024 : In order to realize the green energy objectives of NTPC and the GOI’s efforts towards energy transition, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, signed a Joint venture Agreement with Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MAHAGENCO) on 28th Feb 2024 for development of Renewable Energy Parks in Maharashtra. The JV Agreement was signed between Shri Abhay Harne, Director (Projects), MAHAGENCO and Shri V V Sivakumar, CGM (NGEL) in the presence of Shri Gurdeep Singh, CMD, NTPC Limited, Dr. P Anbalagan, CMD, MAHAGENCO, Shri K S Sundaram, Director (Projects), NTPC Limited and Chairman (NGEL), Shri Mohit Bhargava, CEO (NGEL), Shri Rajiv Gupta, CEO (NTPC REL) along with other senior officials from NGEL and MAHAGENCO. NTPC is India’s largest integrated power utility with a total installed capacity of approx. 74 GW (including JVs and subsidiaries). As part of increasing its renewable energy portfolio, a fully owned subsidiary has been formed as “NTPC Green Energy Limited” (NGEL) which shall take up Renewable Energy Parks and Projects including businesses in the area of Green Hydrogen, Energy Storage Technologies, and Round the Clock RE Power. NTPC Group has ambitious plans of 60 GW of RE capacity by the year 2032. Currently, it has 3.4 GW of installed RE capacity and more than 22 GW under pipeline. NTPC is committed to supporting Maharashtra’s and India’s decarbonisation goals.
MAHAGENCO has an installed capacity of about 13170 MW including 9540 MW Thermal, 2580 MW Hydro, 672 MW Gas and 378 MW Solar based Power Plant.
: Shri Ravindra Kumar takes charge as Director (Operations), NTPC Limited

New Delhi, News Udaan Shri Ravindra Kumar (DIN: 10523088) has taken charge as Director (Operations), NTPC on 26th February 2024.Shri Ravindra Kumar completed B.Sc. (Engineering) in Mechanical engineering from BIT Sindri in 1988. Prior to joining as Director (Operations), NTPC Limited, he was OSD (Officer on Special Duty) to Director (Operations), NTPC Limited.Shri Ravindra Kumar joined NTPC Limited as Graduate Engineer Trainee officer in 1989 and has more than 34 years of diverse and versatile experience in Commissioning, O&M, Engineering and Project management. Shri Ravindra Kumar has worked in various capacities in O&M function at NTPC Kahalgaon Project. He has exposure of working at Corporate Centre in Engineering department and as a technical support to Director (Technical). He was actively involved in development of 1st Maitree supercritical power project of Bangladesh India Friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL), Bangladesh. During his tenure as Chief Technical Officer (CTO), he spearheaded all Engineering, erection, commissioning, and O&M activities of 660 MW 1st Unit of BIFPCL. As Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited, he expedited various construction and erection activities. He is a professional with Corporate and Site experience, people-centric approach, knowledge, and experience of the entire power sector.
: NTPC Group Installed Capacity touches 73958 MW

New Delhi,(News Udaan) 23rd February 2024 : The first solar project of NTPC REL at Chhattargarh in Rajasthan declared commercial operation of 70 MW on 21st February 2024. With this, NTPC Group installed capacity has reached 73958 MW. At present, NTPC-REL has 17 projects under execution, with a total capacity exceeding 6000 MW. With this, the total RE operational capacity of NTPC Group now stands at 3448 MW. Shri Mohit Bhargava, CEO (NGEL) and other officials were present on this occasion.The slated full capacity of Chhattargarh Solar project is 150 MW and is expected to be commissioned by March 2024. The capacity was won under SECI-Tranche:III and the beneficiary of this project is Rajasthan.
This project is designed to generate 370 million units of energy per year, sufficient for 60,000 households, while also saving 3 lakhs tons of CO2 emissions every year and conserving 1000 MMTPA of water. This is adequate for over 5000 households in a year.
